In 1954 she moved to Sioux Center, IA to go Dordt College where she graduated and started teaching in Inwood, IA.  She then met Delvin Kuhl and they were married on May 26, 1961.  They settled on a farm five miles north of Hadley, MN and raised five children, Curtis, LuAnn, Julie, Ruth and Nora.  Clare helped on the farm and enjoyed gardening and canning.  She taught in Holland and Chandler, MN.  She was a very hard worker and she also worked at Huisken Meats, Huisken Grocery store, Prairie View (24 years) and Westside apartments.

Delvin and Clare later moved into Slayton.

Clare’s favorite past times were reading books, gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing Scrabble and having coffee with friends.  Clare and Del enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends.

Clare has five grandchildren and enjoyed playing Chinese Checkers, going to the lake and baking with them.  She also enjoyed attending their events.

Clare was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In the summer of 2014 she moved to StoneyBrook Assisted Living in Sioux Falls, SD.  In the fall she moved to Marshall, MN and lived in Boulder Creek Memory Care where she spent her days singing.  On February 26, 2018 Clare moved to Our House Hospice in Slayton, MN where on May 26, 2018 she passed away surrounded by her family.
