Arianna Peters was born November 23, 1913 to Peter and Johanna (Vander Meer) Vander Lugt in Perkins, IA. She was baptized and confessed her faith in the Christian Reformed Church. As a young girl, her family moved to Minnesota and Arianna attended Leota Christian School. At the age of fifteen, she began playing as organist for the Leota Christian Reformed Church.

In 1933 Arianna married Harry Peters in the Leota Christian Reformed Church made their home in Primghar, IA. There they owned and operated a Gamble’s store. They then moved near Ruthton, MN for nine years, before moving to a farm near Slayton, MN. In 1949, they moved to a farm south of Chandler, MN and farmed there for the next twenty two years. During that time they moved to California from 1963 to 1965, but in the end, they missed the farm and came back to it.

In 1972 they retired from the farm into Chandler and Arianna worked as the custodian at the Chandler Christian School for seventeen years. She then went to work as janitor in the Chandler Bank and continued to work for many more years. In 1998 she moved into a condo in Chandler and remained there until she entered the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.

Arianna was a member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Society, active in the church women’s groups and was the church organist for forty five years, which she passed on to her daughter, Pat. She enjoyed playing the organ very much and called it her, “ministry in music”. She also taught piano lessons for thirty years and was a member of the Chandler Senior Citizens. Besides music and her church, her family was her greatest love, spending time with them and cooking and baking. Her grandchildren all fondly remember her for her baking, especially her buns.
