Jose Fernandez Villar

Jose Fernandez Villar, 81, Chandler, Minnesota, passed away on February 26, 2019 at the Pipestone County Hospice in Pipestone, Minnesota.  A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington, Minnesota at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2019.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  A private family service will be held at a later date in Spain.

Jose was born to Jose Fernandez and Claudina Villar on January 1, 1938 in Arzon, Spain. Jose met Primitiva while they both lived in Arzon where they grew up. Primitiva moved to Venezuela in her late teens. Jose joined the Army after Primitiva left.  At the age of 24, he moved to Venezuela to find his true love. Jose and Primitiva were married on May 20, 1962.  After their marriage, Jose opened his first restaurant.  Two children were added to the family, Alejandro and Marcia.  Jose eventually built his business up to four restaurants.  Jose had to travel a lot for his work.  Jose was the President of his local Lions Club two different times.  In his spare time he liked to fish and hunt.  Jose moved to the United States of America in 2013. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Primitiva Manteiga Tunas Fernandez, Chandler MN; son Alejandro (Diane) Fernandez, Hercules, California; his daughter Marcia (Jose Nestor) Carrera, Chandler, MN. 5 grandchildren: Alexis Fernandez, Nicole Fernandez, Christina Fernandez, Jose A. Carrera and Migelangel Carrera. Two sisters; Josefina Fernandez and Pilar Fernandez.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
