Obituary

Shirley Ann Knapp, 83, of Alexandria, formerly of Lake Wilson, MN passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Alomere Hospital in Alexandria.

  Shirley was born on September 19, 1938, to Anno and Etta (Huls) Martens in Rushmore, MN. She worked in various capacities throughout her life, but her love was as a learning disability teacher for 31 years, working at Chandler-Lake Wilson Elementary and retiring from Murray County Central in Slayton in 1999.

  Survivors include one grandson, Chad and his wife Erryn Knapp of Carlos, MN; one great-grandson, 6-month old Hudson Knapp; One nephew Rick and his wife Ruth Martens, Slayton, MN; two great-nephews, Josh Dierks, Rushmore, MN and Nick Dierks, Currie. MN; several cousins, friends and special traveling companion and friend, Duane Barry.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kathleen; sons, Joseph and Douglas; great-granddaughter Peyton Knapp; brother Richard and special person, Conrad Knutson.

  A private committal service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Lake Wilson.

  Shirley requested no flowers.
